Geraldine Adventure Race
2nd April 2023
Welcome to the Geraldine Adventure Race, run as a fundraiser for Geraldine High School! The 2022 event was cancelled due to the risk of widespread Covid-19 transmission within the small and tight-knit Geraldine community but entries are now open for the 2023 edition.
The 3hr event is designed for families and beginners to adventure racing. If you’re keen to try an adventure race but unsure if you could do it then this is the race for you. The navigation in this event will be easier than in the 6 hour event.
To complete the 3hr event you will need to be able to jog/walk approx. 5km off road, and mountain bike approx. 15km on gravel roads and 4wd tracks.
The 6 hour event is designed to be an achievable event for all competitors with a reasonable level of fitness and some navigational competency.
To complete the 6 hour event you should to be able to jog/walk approx. 10km off road, and mountain bike approx. 20km on gravel roads and 4wd trails. Competitive teams who are aiming to collect all the controls may end up doing more than the stated distances.
The times listed above for each event are the maximum times a team should spend out on the course. The winning team will be the team to complete the full course the fastest, teams will be placed firstly on how much of the course they complete, and secondly on their finishing time. For example, if two teams both complete half of the full course the team that finishes first will place above the slower team.
We expect fast teams to be able to complete the course within 2/3's of the stated maximum course time (3/6 Hour). All teams must return to the finish by the maximum time regardless of whether they have completed the full course or not.
